Early Childhood Literacy, Early Childhood Math, & CCMR Readiness Plans

(HB 3 Compliance – TEC §11.185 & TEC §11.186)

At Essence Preparatory Public School, we believe every scholar deserves a strong academic foundation that prepares them for long-term success. In alignment with the requirements of House Bill 3 (HB 3), our Governing Board has formally adopted goals and progress measures that support early literacy, early numeracy, and essential skills for college, career, and military readiness.

These plans are designed to ensure that all scholars, from Pre-K through 8th grade, receive targeted, high-quality instruction and meaningful academic support as they develop into confident, capable learners.

Accountability

Early Childhood Literacy Plan (K–3)

Our literacy plan focuses on ensuring that scholars develop strong early reading skills aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Key priorities include:

  • Building foundational phonics, decoding, and comprehension skills
  • Ensuring scholars meet grade-level reading expectations
  • Monitoring growth through high-quality assessments (mCLASS, MAP Growth, STAAR)
  • Supporting teachers with structured curriculum implementation and coaching

Literacy is the gateway to all future learning, and we are committed to ensuring every scholar becomes a confident, fluent reader.

Accountability

Early Childhood Mathematics Plan (K–3)

Although CCMR accountability officially begins in high school, Essence Prep invests early in developing readiness skills for all scholars.
Our PK–8 CCMR plan includes:

  • Helping scholars meet MAP Growth targets that predict future academic success.
  • Preparing 8th graders for Algebra readiness
  • Integrating career awareness and exploration experiences
  • Building habits that support long-term readiness, including strong attendance
  • We believe that readiness begins early, and our scholars deserve every opportunity to discover their strengths and future pathways.

College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Plan (PK–8)

Although CCMR accountability officially begins in high school, Essence Prep invests early in developing readiness skills for all scholars.
